Quantity Surveyor

S&C Slatter deliver an end-to-end service for Placemaking and Sports Construction projects.⁣ ⁣ Clients, landscape architects, and consultants depend on our construction expertise, professional services, sound finances, and integrated project management to deliver their projects on time, on budget, and on point.⁣

Due to ongoing success our operations team are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to improve financial reporting, optimise procurement, and increase the value we deliver to clients.

Reporting directly into our Operations Director the successful candidate will work closely with the procurement, estimating, and contracts teams at our base in the beautiful West Berkshire countryside.

Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor you will play a crucial role in the financial planning and management of our construction projects, your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Administering and reviewing monthly project cost reports
  • Creating financial summaries for the board
  • Updating cost projections in line with project changes
  • Maintaining accurate project cashflows
  • Producing Bills of Quantities for major projects
  • Procuring groundwork packages
  • Agreeing significant groundworks valuations
  • Managing groundwork budgets
  • Placing POs and settling final accounts

Experience and Skills

  • Strong and adaptable IT proficiency
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Proven ability to work in teams
  • Proven experience negotiating commercial terms
  • Keen attention to detail

Site Managers

Due to ongoing success demand for our services is high and our construction team are seeking self-employed, SSSTS-trained, Site Managers to assist with the day-to-day running of sites in locations across Southern England and the Midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, helping the company to deliver a variety of exciting sports construction projects.

Our order book is almost full for 2025, and with projects still being awarded the position could become permanent for the right candidate.

Role Overview

As a Site Manager you will play a crucial role in site activities, your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Ensure site set up is correct and as agreed on TM plan
  • Be responsible for H&S onsite reporting to our H&S manager
  • All training records for operatives and labourers are recorded
  • Site inductions
  • Be able to read drawings and highlight any issues
  • Coordinate deliveries and call off supplies when required
  • Assist H&S Manager in maintaining company accreditations and site files
  • Report to Contract Supervisor on a daily basis

Qualifications and Skills

  • SSMSTS / SSSTS
  • Telehandler Plant operator CPCS/NPORS (not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (not essential)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Willing to travel to multiple site locations
  • Knowledge of civils + sports pitch builds a plus

Contracts Manager

Reporting to the Contracts Director, the primary role of the Contracts Manager is to control, organise, and coordinate multiple sites under their control.

Self-motivated and able to work under their own initiative, the the successful applicant will be directly responsible for the running of sites, delegating to Site Managers and Contract Supervisors to manage the workload.

Further responsibilities include issuing Valuations to clients, agreeing incoming Valuations from contractors, and preparing monthly cost sheets and cost forecasts for the Operations Director.

Role Overview

As Contract Manager you will play a crucial role in organising site activities, your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Contributing to project Kick-Off and Pre-Start meetings
  • Providing detailed work plans as per the GMP
  • Ensuring labour is sourced and allocated for each Project
  • Site visits with the designers and estimators as required
  • Working with Directors to coordinate project start dates
  • Managing Holidays and Training, ensuring cover for key staff
  • Keeping the Contract Schedule up to date
  • Report to Contract Supervisor on a daily basis
  • Effectively and cost-efficiently resolving site issues
  • Working with procurement to manage deliveries
  • Reviewing Purchase Orders to ensure all requirements are met
  • * Attending Handover and monthly Project Meetings

Qualifications and Skills

  • Fully competent in IT, especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
  • Commercially aware, ability to track and report costs
  • SMSTS an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
