Benenden is acknowledged as an exceptional school for girls occupying 240 acres of beautiful parkland in the Kent countryside. The girls benefit from outstanding facilities and a school community which aspires for excellence.
S&C Slatter was commissioned to build a 108m x 63m new artificial turf hockey and lacrosse pitch complete with all necessary sports infrastructure. The construction process featured the provision of a temporary haul road and an extensive cut and fill operation with the installation of a 1.75m pre-cast concrete retaining wall. Surplus excavated material was used to create a landscaped bund within the grounds.
The playing system is the FieldTurf Gold SD sand-dressed artificial turf with an in-situ bound rubber shockpad and engineered sub-base structure. The Benenden logo is inset into the artificial grass as part of the school branding which also takes in the team shelters and scoreboard.
The completed pitch has been independently certified as meeting the International Hockey Federation (FIH) National Performance Standard.
