Marchwood is a developing and thriving village situated between Totton and Hythe on the western shore of Southampton Water. The Lloyd Recreation Ground is very much the village’s sporting hub, hosting a wide range of sports and play activities for the community.
S&C Slatter was asked to refurbish a tarmacadam tennis court, converting it to a 36m x 18m 5 a side football pitch. A 60mm 3G football turf was selected as the most appropriate playing surface incorporating low maintenance inlaid line markings. The existing surface was power cleaned and pierced through to the foundation stone at regular intervals to improve vertical drainage. These works enabled the artificial turf to be installed directly over the tarmacadam without the need for more extensive works.
The perimeter was also upgraded with a new walling and fencing system.
