S&C Slatter, working alongside Slatter Cricket and Play, delivered major refurbishment works on 5 Cricket Practice Nets for Lingfield College in Surrey, with resurfacing works completed on 3 tennis courts and a full-size artificial turf hockey pitch.
Lingfield College is a successful independent day school for children aged 2-18 located in the beautiful Surrey countryside. Rated ‘Excellent’ in every ISI category, the co-educational school blends academia, pastoral care and co-curricular opportunities to inspire, motivate and nurture every pupil, educationally and recreationally. With sport being a fundamental role at Lingfield, and with their enviable range of sporting activities and facilities, it was important to them that the work was carried out to the highest standard in time for the students return from their break.
Lingfield College came to S&C Slatter directly with their enquiry, proposing the work needed on the site to refurbish and improve the tired surfaces to enable the students to further continue playing tennis, cricket and hockey at a high level. Based on our experience and expertise in the industry, S&C Slatter were awarded the contract from Lingfield College.
With limited space, the College understood that a small ‘Cut and Fill’ was needed to ensure the cricket nets could be constructed in the agreed location and sought a contractor who could carry out the works with maximum efficiency and minimum impact to the area.
S&C Slatter were the first company in the world to be awarded the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) Certified Field Builder status, a certification we have retained since 2016. Working in exclusive partnership with FIH Preferred Turf Producers FieldTurf, we have delivered more hockey pitches to FIH Global Standard in the UK than any other contractor. Utilising our experience, and drawing upon our expertise in the industry, the resurfacing of both the hockey pitch and tennis courts at Lingfield were completed efficiently and professionally, minimising disruption and delivering a first-class result.
Removing and considerately recycling the original surface, it took our team 4 weeks to remove the existing and install the new sand-dressed artificial turf surface to the hockey pitch, and 3 weeks to install the new base on the 3 tennis courts, so play could resume for the students when they arrived in September. The hours of use for the hockey pitch and tennis courts will be increased significantly, exceeding 50-hours play per week and with an on-going maintenance contract agreed, we can ensure that the students at Lingfield will have high-quality and continual use of their newly refurbished sports facilities throughout the duration of their school-life.
Delivered by S&C Slatter and available to the students now, is a newly refurbished full-size sand-dressed artificial turf hockey pitch, surfaced with FieldTurf Hockey Gold artificial turf, designed and built to the FIH regulations, 3 refurbished tennis courts to LTA standards, 5 high-quality Cricket Practice Nets with an agreed a 12-month maintenance programme. This will ensure that year-round play is achieved, offering space for more sports and extra-curricular clubs, and continual improvement of the standard of sports and education offered by the College – proven in December 2022 when the Lingfield U14 Girls hockey team were awarded ‘Team of the Term’, after being unbeaten during the season.
This fantastic project and refurbished facility was headed up by our Contacts Manager John Fisher, with the works delivered to specification, on time and within budget, from concept to completion.
