Formed in 1898 by the amalgamation of two leading junior sides, Sutton United has been playing at the Borough Ground continuously since 1919, and is well established in The National League South.
The new 3G football turf system, which has been designed and installed by S&C Slatter, features state-of-the art FieldTurf Vertex 3G football turf installed over a 25mm E-Layer performance base. The eight week fast-track works programme involved significant earthworks and sub-base construction incorporating piped lateral drainage. A contrasting artificial grass run off around the perimeter of the playing surface reduces maintenance and upkeep still further while adding to the overall impressive appearance of the facility.
The FIFA 2-star certified 3G football turf pitch consistently delivers an excellent standard of play performance and player comfort, regardless of the weather. The club is equally pleased with the opportunity to hire the facility out to local clubs and organisations, generating an additional income stream.
