3G Artificial Turf Pitch for Football, Rugby and American Football

As part of an on-going programme of expanding its sports facilities, the University of Kent commissioned S&C Slatter to build a truly exceptional new 3G artificial turf sports pitch. Situated at the University’s outdoor facilities complex on campus, the 127m x 80m pitch provides students with even more opportunity to participate in sport.

The design specification enables back-to-back fixtures and training for rugby, football and American football; delivering optimal playing conditions for matches from recreational play to top level rugby and football. The pitch is certified to FIFA 1 Star, World Rugby Regulation 22 and IATS performance standards.

The 3G artificial turf selected for this project was the high-performance 60mm Vertex RGF, developed by FieldTurf, the World’s leading producer of artificial turf, and our manufacturing partner. Floodlighting, fencing, spectator hard standing and access paths are all elements of the overall scheme provided by S&C Slatter.

Base construction with Soil Stabilisation Technology (SST) and lateral, perforated pipe drainage system.

This latest addition to our portfolio of facilities is superb. From start to finish, S&C Slatter have been a pleasure to work with and dealt with every unseen challenge swiftly and efficiently, making my life a great deal easier. We have already had a plethora of internal and external groups using the facilities, including sport groups from American universities/academies who said ‘it was the best pitch they had ever played on’. Testimony to the the quality of FieldTurf Vertex as a product, and the company that installed it. I genuinely believe we have the ‘Rolls Royce’ of pitches, and couldn’t be happier.
