The 3G football turf pitch at the Arbour Park Community Stadium in Slough has passed its first annual FIFA Quality Pro performance standard ‘re-test’ with ‘Flying colours’. Built in 2016 by S&C Slatter working as specialist provider to main contractor, Morgan Sindall, the full size artificial turf pitch is a feature of the outstanding new sports facility created for client Slough Borough Council.
This 2000 capacity, 500 seat purpose built stadium is the home of Slough Town FC who play in the Evo-Stick South Premier League as well as being available to the local community. The stadium offers a range of bar and catering services and is also a superb venue for conference and training courses.
A successful pass of the FIFA Quality Pro re-testing confirms that in accordance with the aims of the FIFA Quality Programme the pitch replicates the playing qualities of a good quality natural grass, creates a playing environment that does not increase the risk of injury to players and provides the required level of durability (provided it is properly maintained). Importantly this also means the Arbour Park pitch is included in the important FA 3G Football Turf Pitch Register for 2017/18.
The 106m x 70m new build artificial pitch project delivered by S&C Slatter features the high-quality, premium-rated FieldTurf Vertex 50 -13 3G football turf installed over an in-situ bound rubber shock pad. FieldTurf is a FIFA Quality Preferred Producer and S&C Slatter’s manufacturing partner.
Contracts Manager David Smith and Site Manager Stuart Wilkes led the S&C Slatter project construction team which delivered an inclusive works package which embraced excavation and groundworks, sub-base construction, drainage, playing system installation, spectator fencing and floodlighting.
The specialist in-house maintenance services division of S&C Slatter is also helping to keep the playing surface and pitch environs in optimum condition via an annual maintenance and aftercare programme.
Arbour Park joins the S&C Slatter 3G Football Turf portfolio of artificial pitches currently hosting senior level non-league football. Sutton United, Maidstone United, Harrogate Town AFC, Tamworth, Eastbourne Borough, Newtown AFC, Haringey Borough and Margate all play on pitches constructed by the company.
